Sat 25. [25 August 1894] Got up at 5 and swam in the lake. At 6.30
took the boat - Papa and I got out at Pertisau - so did Amy and Frl
Sophie who were to catch a boat back to Scholastica [Scholastika].
Mother and the children went on. At Pertisau we found a guide waiting
for us. We stopped at an inn to get provisions - the church bell began
to ring - out came the Geistlicher wrapping his coat round him, [one
word illegible - hole in page] back his curls and stepping down the
road with a great air. He made me an elegant bow and I got up and
followed him to his little church where I said a prayer for B [Billy
Lascelles[?]]. Up the mountain - the Stanzer Joch - reached the top
about 11 and lunched. Then came down pretty fast into the Inn Thal
[Unter-inn-tal] and reached Schwatz [Schwaz] about 1. Fearfully hot!
Home by train and tram to find it was 80? in the shade. I found 4 kinds
of gentians - see next page. Hot bath - heavenly! and to sleep for 2
hours. After dinner read Swift's letters to Mother. [Three pressed
gentians attached to page.]
