Thurs. 23. [23 August 1894] Went up into the wood in the morning and
translated Algheyas. Had a tremendous tussle with it and turned it all
round. I think it will come. Very late for lunch. Afterwards Papa and I
walked up the Klamm and then up and up beyond the pines and
along the face of the mountains. We came down onto the ruined
castle of Taur with its white pilgrimage church - stations of the cross all
up the hillside. Had some milk and caught the 7.45 tram - by dint of
wading turned up through a bog! I found Alphenrose and some
charming campanulas and many exquisite cedums. We nearly came
to a bad end by clambering along a place where the path had been
blocked - et pour cause! for it had almost disappeared.
