Description
Levies 1922 Zakho [British levied troops at salute. ?The Levies are Imperial forces. 350 Assyrians....now guarding our furthest outpost. Smartly they came to salute as we entered the camp; Khaki clad, the meagrest of shorts revealing the finest pairs of mountaineers legs, broad hatted, the brims cocked up with a white or a scarlet feather, they looked for all the world like large sized Gurkhas.?]
