By now you will have left my dear Gertrude – and I hope this will arrive nearly as soon as you do if not sooner at Beirut – just to wish you luck and good things – and castles to your heart’s content – and stars to be your friends –
Its late and I’ve only just got rid of a talkative Italian by going deliberately to sleep in front of him – But tomorrow is a mail day –
I have so many things to say to you – which I cannot say – but which will say themselves to you sometimes – after all they are all good wishes –
And – why I never thanked you did I – for the wonderful Danber & Turkey - & Rhoda Fleming-
But what is still more – for your wonderful letters –
A good journey – But I hate to hear of you ill & tired and wrestling for your energies – you always of fire by nature – I hope the desert & Fatuch (can’t spell him) & your own self will set you up again.
There is’nt time to write of this & how – besides I am too long thinking of you –
Dick.
Yes – there’s a splendid idea in a telegram - It will be a great relief to hear that you are safe. Con’s address is Coxia, London. & I’ll take care he knows where I am.
It looks as if the frontier would be soon arranged in principle. My colleagues are trembling on the brink of agreeing to my ideas – and I’m showing & shouting to London to lend a hand in Paris – It may do.
But there’s so much else. I want to keep the Greek troops even after we’ve bagged their country. It is hard to see how to do it & get them to consent. But it’s the best way. I’ve got a notion – How I’d love to have you to help!
& for everything else – take care my dear - & be happy & successful - & see me again soon –
And the mind & body that quarrel at times – they are all one - & kiss and make friends – and are indulgent to their owner like children to their mother –
Only not always –
Dick.
