C'ple [Istanbul (Constantinople)] July 26 Belloved Father. I arrived last night - with Fattuh! the tale of my bringing him here amounts to an epic. I will tell it to you when I get home. Finally at Haidar Pasha [Haydarpasa] I found the Embassy launch, two British naval officers and a kavass and we snapped our fingers at the police. I am to go to the Selamlik with His Ex. today so I shall have the opportunity of thanking him. I must also fly to the feet of the Grand Vizier and pour out gratitude to him. I shall have to be a few days here as I must see Hamdy, Huguenin (head of the German Rly) and a few other people who have helped me during the last few months. I find a telegram from Strzygowski saying he expects me so I am forming my plans to go via Graz and spend a couple of days there. Also Eddie telegraphs me his Tyrol address and I expect he will come to Graz to see me. I am going to propose this to him. I will write again tomorrow when my plans will be formed better. All now depends on Fattuh really, and whether it will be necessary to do an operation. I can't you see leave him all alone here till I am satisfied that he is out of the wood. We are going now to see his doctor. Your delightful long letter reached me at Konia [Konya (Iconium)] and Mother's too. I found letters from you both here.
