[10 May 1918] Baghdad May 10 Darling Father. Your letter of March 19 has just arrived and this card. I know nothing - or remember nothing - about the book, but I've had no books from the Asiatic Soc. for at least 3 years. It's good that Mother was enjoying Bath but I'm sorry to hear that the Belloved Sylvia isn't well - good please God. Heavens what a busy life you lead!
I've been over head in reports and things - the accumulation of 5 days - and am beginning to see daylight after being at it all today from 8 am to 7 p.m. Ever your very affectionate daughter Gertrude.
