Boulogne March 17 Dearest Father. Domnul says a letter posted towards the end of March, c/o Sir H. MacMahon, Cairo, would catch him.
Sir Arthur Lawley  definitely objects to a Bellgian chauffeur. He fears it will make difficulties.

Will you please tell Mother that I forwarded her anonymous enclosure to our Mr Dove who has been summoned hastily by Lord Robert to try and get their Augean stable of an office into shape. I thought it would help him to understand the task before him. Did I tell you I have Lilian Douglas Pennant in my office now. I like her very much. Last Wednesday one of her brothers was killed and I had to tell her. She was so brave. She is going home for a few days when Tiger returns next week and then coming back to me.

I never thanked you for the picture of Bertie's house - Allah! And you in khaki! Allah, allah!

Goodbye my dear - we've much to do. Your ever affectionate daughter Gertrude
