Dearest Mother. How very stupid of me not to tell you the amount the books came to! I added it up with care but omitted to tell you the result. They are ú4.7.6.
I am just off to Clarence, Maurice is going too, though not to read to the Mothers! I shall have tea at the office and see Papa I hope. I am so sorry I shall be away this evening, I wish I were not going. However Maurice will be here. It is a horrid horrid day, cold and squally, I expect you are having the same weather.

Hunt has not got quite enough velveteen for Molly's frock. Where did you get it, that I may write for some more? The dear little girls are very well and happy. I think they are looking much the better for their Parish[?]. Ever your very affectionate daughter Gertrude.
