95 Sloane Street Sunday. Dearest Mother. I have just been in to see Aunt Bessie (7 o'clock) and I think on the whole she is better and quite cheerful. I had to lend her Sons of the Sword because she was without a novel. I'll finish it when she has done with it. I think I am going to stay till Monday week - does that matter? There are a good many things I want to do and there seems very little time to do them in. Caroline and I went to see Emilia Galotti last night - I've finished seeing Lessing, I finished at the end of the 4th act and didn't wait for the 5th. Today I lunched with Amy. Frolloch, Ambrose and Mrs Wellesley came to tea.
I am now going to dine with Florence at the Tyrrells. Ever your affectionate daughter Gertrude

I wonder if Elsa cd find a tiny red notebook with lists of photographs I have taken. I think it is in the case of one of my cameras hanging up in the corner of my room. I shd be so grateful for it.
