Spean Bridge Monday Dearest Mother. I was so glad to have your letter and Papa's. But how terrible it is! You must be quite worn out. I can't think of anything much more wearing for you. What a comfort for Grandmamma that she does not realise all this weary time.
I have a letter from Lisa saying that she proposes coming here on Wed. leaving by the 8.45 A.M. so you will not travel with her. Please tell Papa the Times of Saturday has come from Smith; the Spectator has come this morning and the Academy and Literature came on Saturday; I forward them to you. Posts seem rather erratic.
I opened Maurice's letter and Aunt F. [Florence]'s as I was sure I might; they are not wildly interesting. Still we thought we might as well see them.
It's fine today; Moll and Amy have gone into Fort William. Elsa, Tokyo and I are going to take a long walk after lunch. We had thought of making our expedition up Ben Nevis, but the clouds were lying too low and we want a view.
I do wish you and Papa were here instead of that horrid stuffy old London. I'm very sorry about your neuralgia; you must be thoroughly tired, but it's so peaceful here you will soon be all right again I hope. Ever your very affectionate daughter Gertrude
