95 Sloane Street Sep 9 Dearest Mother. Here is a letter from M. [Maurice] with a message for you. Also Springy's letter. I've had an awfully busy day and have no energy to write.
Milly and I watched the raid from Elsa's balcony. We saw nothing but the bursting shells and could not catch sight of the Zeppelins. I gather they didn't do much harm. The bombs dropped mostly Aldwich way. I haven't had time to hear much about it.

Domnul is back but I haven't seen him nor heard from him. Your affectionate daughter Gertrude.
