95 Sloane Street Wed. Dearest Mother. I have spent some time today grappling with the problem of clothes with which we both fill our minds to the exclusion of the beauties of Nature at her best. I lunched with the Cromers and went to see Blanche Lloyd at 4. Blanche is very happy about her baby. She sent you sympathy and Katie many affectionate messages. Now I'm going to see Moll, but since we dine with the Stanleys at 7.45 (to go to a Music Hall, abase[?]!) I may not have time to write when I come in so I post this now.
I wonder how you felt after getting up. Parkinson telephoned and said it was quite natural that you should still have a little rise in tempy and he only wondered it was not more. Your affectionate daughter Gertrude

Poor Florence is contemplating black grief for the King of Denmark!
