Rounton Grange Aug 27. Dearest Mother. You haven't answered about the Williams so I suppose you have no objection.
When you arrive tomorrow you will find a. George Lloyd b. Percy Loraine - he was in Persia with Florence c. Owen Smith. Mr Loraine is coming with George. Owen is coming this way: he was one of the people I invited for next week, No, said he, but I'll come on the 27th till Sunday night. Well, I thought I wd get another 2 days' work and I wrote and said that you were away and I wasn't sure when you were coming back (sic!) and that I was probably away over that Sunday (also sic!). Then George wagged and suggested himself and Mr Loraine so I saw it was no good and telegraphed to Owen that our plans were changed - that's what I said - and we shd all be at home. So he's coming. Now I'll cease liar; it's so ineffective.
I'll try and keep Mr Loraine on Monday and Tuesday. Your affectionate daughter Gertrude
I believe I've identified my castle!
