95 Sloane Street Friday. Dearest Mother. I am much distressed to hear that you have retired to bed again. I do hope your relapse is not serious. I'm quite well. The enclosed will amuse you. Mrs Crawshy is a witty lady. Tear up the letter but keep Mr Letterby's. He is perhaps the best English authority on Byzantine architecture so I am much gratified. It is also very kind of him to write to me so aimiably [sic]. I went to the S. Kensington this afternoon and interviewed him. This was made easier by his knowing all about my first article. He was much please when I suggested giving him a copy of the photographs and said that whenever I wanted to read these he would do everything he could to help me. So we had a satisfactory talk.
Then I went to tea with Lady Morpeth and we had a very delightful talk - the first really that we have ever had - and I saw her charming children and we made quite friends and agreed that we would meet often.

Moll came to lunch with Pauline and I photographed them afterwards and then went round to Cadogan Gardens and photographed the 2 Lascelles children in fancy dress. Bill came driving with Florence and me and told us interesting details about the Kennedy business which is a most miserable affair. They are all dreadfully sorry about it and most sorry of all for Kennedy. Bill was not in it at all, being in bed, otherwise he would have stopped it. Your affectionate daughter Gertrude
