Friday. 95 Sloane Street. Dearest Mother. I received and have obeyed your telegram - not that I was going to take any steps about the 30th till I heard definitely from you. I heard Mrs W. [Ward]'s play this morning - well, I shouldn't wonder if it did succeed. It's just like her books and they succeed. My Pundit didn't come this afternoon so I walked out and looked at some pictures and as I came home I met Mrs Napier and brought her in to tea. Mr Landon subsequently came and Bobby Johnson so I had quite the tea party. Mr Knowles called, but as he didn't ask for me of course, he was sent away. I was sorry. The enclosed from Maisie - I've told her to ask whom she pleases but it's rather annoying of the Gosselin girl to come separate as it makes another girl.
I have a pundit after dinner. Ever your affectionate daughter Gertrude
