Friday. 90 Sloane Street. Dearest Mother. I'm better, though still unable to walk. Maclagan says I've come off very easily. It's only a bad bruise and I might have cracked the knee cap!
My day has been beguiled by a long Persian lesson this morning and a long Frollock this afternoon! He has given me his Spinoza which is very interesting.

Isn't Mr Knowles an old dear! I shall love having him tomorrow.

I hope I may be allowed to dine out with the Strongs tomorrow. Maclagan is inclined to be lenient in the matter. But I'm not going to the St Loe Stracheys tonight which is a great pity. I feel anyway it isn't decent to hobble so. Ever your affectionate daughter Gertrude

I've had the proofs from the Westminister.
