Thursday Red Barns, Coatham, Redcar. Dearest Mother. I have just come in from playing a long round with Edith Wood and after snatching a hasty tea, I am now going off to Clarence. So you see I have not had much time to write to you. I saw Dr Munro yesterday - he says the pains in Durkin's chest are all a part of his paralysis and that nothing whatever can be done for him. He may be able to move a little better in the warmer weather. Dr M. will go and see him.

Mrs P. says the soap is running low - will you order some.

Glorious weather here - the children are having tea at Miss Skinner's. Molly drove Lizzie to the woods this afternoon. Your affectionate daughter Gertrude
