Baghdad Sep 17 Darling Mother. That was a perfectly delightful letter of yours dated Sep 2 and 3. I doted on the incident with the pea hen. I agree with you that any evidence of maternal solicitude in pea hens is rare - luckily perhaps when it takes such forms.
I'm so much gratified to hear that you approved of my letter to Mr Spender. Yes, of course I'll tell you if he answers, but he probably won't.

It's very nice the way you answer my letters - people often forget to do that. And in answer to yours I may say right now that Nora does seem a darling and a great pleasure to you.

I like hearing all about the people you're seeing and everything.
