Thursday. Dearest Mother. The enclosed from Lady L.L. with a rug and some letters. I sent them back to her explaining that you had gone. Father is very well and we are prospering. He had a good night. Ambrose came soon after 11 and we went over 95, after which we drove out. I flew off to my tailor to have a habit altered directly after lunch and came back before he was about again. I have written to Mrs Stead. I had a letter from Mrs Napier last night asking me to dine with her tonight to meet General Ian Hamilton. I refused the dinner and asked her to come and see us, which I hope she will do today.
MaBell sends this and says that the last receipt is dated 31/8/00 and the account is only made out till June. Ever your affectionate daughter Gertrude
