Sat 7th [7 January 1905] Delicious day, bit of a roll, following wind
pretty strong. Sat on deck all morning and read Bevan's Scheurus,
which I finished, while we passed down Corsica [Corse] and throught
the Straits. Mild and sunny - it is most pleasant to get into this soft light
air. Played Bridge after tea and after dinner with Mrs Peake and Mr
Osborne - she is very nice but I don't like him. He is shy stupid and a
bit of a boor.
