Sat 7. [7 April 1900] Off at 5.30 and home at 12 - a very tedious ride up on tired horses. I rode Hanna's, mine having a sore back. We rested half an hour or more at the Apostles' Fountain. The last bit seemed endless. Delightful getting back and finding good news from home. Washed and dressed, the process being somewhat impeded by the number of people who wanted to kiss my hand. Ferideh came at 3 and we went out to do my various businesses. Went to tea with Mrs Dickson. Mr Dunn came in to see me then Mrs Dickson. Then came my muleteers and Hanna so that I had barely time to dress for dinner.
