Tues 31. [31 January 1905] Very cold and I have the usual Jerusalem
[(El Quds esh Sherif, Yerushalayim)] cold in the head. Wrote letters,
saw about my cook with Domian and met Najib Nassar with whom I
had a talk, and a Baittar friend of his who vetted my horse. My
luggage came from Beirut [Beyrouth]. Called on Mrs Dickson where I
found Mr Dunn, and then on Frau Schmidt who showed me the new
Consulate, a delightful house but furnished! It has no resemblance to
a human habitation.
