Location

Mon. 9. [9 March 1903] Land in sight all day, or islands. At 6 PM we
passed quite near a group of islands. We can't have gone more than
6 knots an hour. Talked to Major Hanbury about orchids. Wrote
letters. Bridge. Miss Strakosch sang, the old dumb singer
accompanying her with spirit. There's a Dutchman on board who
knows Java [Jawa] and told us about it. Major Wiersma is his name.
I believe he's an important person.
