Location

Fri 6. [6 March 1903] Went out at 7 to Dalhousie Park to photograph
the Pagoda, but it was unfortunately misty. Delicious place. The hills
like a steamy hot house. Drove about and went to the Shwey
Dugohn[?] where I got charming butter and egg flowers like a sort of
mimosa. Breakfasted with the Lowises, H. [Hugo] coming there too.
His partner Mr Giles was there, pleasant. Mr Lowis drove me in and
we stopped to photograph the Soolay Pagoda. We then began to
start and spent all the morning at it. Went down to the launch at 3,
found the Hanburys there. Got on board the Pentakota about 4. An
obliging captain gave me a 2nd class cabin to myself. Lots of
Americans - Fosters and others. Mr and Mr Strakosch, he the son of
an American impressario, she much older, a singer she was called
Kellog - of some fame in the States. A handsome cousin of his with
them, unmarried. A nice man called Grier sits by me at meals, a New
Yorker. Played Bridge with the Hanbury's. Pleasant cool air.
