Sat 12 [12 April 1902] Boring afternoon. Mr Amin abd el Nour came to
tea with me. Then I went to tea with my horse dealer Marun and then
to Abu Nimruds where I saw his wife, 2 sons, Ibrahim and Philip, 3
daughters Rosa, Paulina and Ferideh and a granddaughter. All very
nice people. Heard with great sorrow of Hanna's death. The
Persians here are really Behaiys not Babis. They look on the Bab
merely as the gate to the Messiah who was the Beha, a sort of John
the Baptist.
