Mon 9. [9 April 1900] Did Arabic and then went down to Jemal and Dommian's to settle up. Also to Grigorian's where I found my photographs prospering. Hanna met me and we walked home together and looked at my horse. The Rosens were out for the day and Charlotte has gone off to Nazareth with Mr Dickson, so I lunched here. At 4, Mrs Dickson and I went to see the Merrills, from whom I tried to get information about the Hauran without great sucess. Mrs Bent is back, but she was out. Came home expecting Khalil but he had not been told and didn't come. The evening was painfully diversified by ....... falling off Issachar on her way back from Bait Jala [Beit Jala] and breaking her collar bone. Einsler came to set in[?] and remained talking afterwards. My room is full of pink roses and may - presents from people. The black Arum is out in the Consulate garden - very lovely.
