Wed 7. [7 February 1900] Pouring day. Went after lunch with the old
kavass, Abdul, to the Haram of Neby Daoud where I saw the
Coenaclumen [Coenaculum]. A vaulted room of late Crusading work,
and leading up from it by a flight of stairs a little white washed room
with a window looking onto the Mt of Olives. To the left another little
room with a big tomb in it - David's! Looked in at the Armenian church,
and so on to the Dominicains where we heard a good lecture on a
recently discovered Hebrew copy of Ecclesiasticus which seems
however to be a translation of our Greek and Syrian translations.
