Wed 21. [21 February 1900] Wind dropped and after lunch it cleared
more or less and Charlotte and I went down to the Russian church on
the Mt of Olives to see a Verestchagin picture. It was however behind
the screen and after fighting the priest and an Arab we came away
angry and disconfited [sic]. Went on to the Bir Ayub and home by the
top of the Valley of Hinnom where we gathered anemones and got
very muddy. Nina much en vogue and I was a disgraceful figure at
her tea party.
