Fri. 19. [19 May 1899] In the morning I went to the Johanneum and saw the most wonderful collection of armour in the world, and then upstairs to an equally wonderful collection of china. The Chinese things simply superb. After an early lunch C [Caroline] and I went by train to Hainsberg, then on by a light railway through an exquisite valley in the Erzgebirge, we got out at [space left blank] walked down through the woods to Rabenau where we had tea and then on to Hainsberg, catching the 6.49 train home. Found Soloman's Seal. Nietsche [sic], as usual, our companion. We had an extremely agreeable dinner at a cafÈ, came in about 10 and C. sat in my room while I packed.
