Thurs 11. [11 May 1899] Went to the bazaar and bought carpets. Left
by the Orient at 4. Golden afternoon. Baron T¸rckheim our Dˆrpfeld
friend, travels with us. Showed him my photographs. We dined
together. Mr Taylor, the Messenger, also in the train and a boring little
Board of Works man called Veale, busy examining Embassies. Lots
of ponies out of the window.
