Location

Tues 26 [26 April 1898] On deck at 7, fine and sunny, clouded over
soon and rained all afternoon becoming very cold. Made friends with
a curly haired American over my trees and played with a little girl
called Doris Hutchings. Long dull day. Read Dead Man's Book all
afternoon. After dinner made friends with a charming mother and
daughter, Coutts, they live in Shanghai, told stories to Doris and
talked to a pretty Canadian woman who knew the Pessimist.
