Sun. March 15. [15 March 1896] Left London at 11, very good crossing
to Calais, then by Lille and Douai to Laon where we dined (7 o'clock)
and Rheims [Reims]. After Chalons [Chalons-sur-Marne] 9.42 we
went to bed - I had a compartment all to myself in the Wagon Lit, so
had Papa. Up at 6, reached Bale [Basel (Basle)] 6.30.
