Tues 22 [22 August 1899] Got to Geneva [GÈneve] at 5, breakfasted
washed and left at 7.30. Lovely journey. Full moon - dawn over the
Lake of Geneva [LÈman, Lac], bright sun over the Lac du Bourget.
Got to Saint Michel at 2 and slept at the Hotel des Alpes where they
all recognised me and asked after my family and Amy "Cette tres
grande dame." Slept and walked up a hillside. Dinner at 7 awfully
hungry as I had eaten nothing all day. Sat by a little old English
doctor and his friend George, H-less but kind. They went up to the
Lautaret next day.
