Sun. 20 [20 August 1899] Cold. Mr Frank Holls came to see Uncle
Frank and told amusing stories of the peace conference from whence
he had just come. Went to a reception at Wahnfried where we found
Frl. Isolde and a married daughter (married to an Italian who is dead)
We were received in a little room in which hangs the portrait of
Wagner of which we have a reproduction. Speedily bowed ourselves
out. Lunch at Riebenstahl's. Parsifal went better on the whole than
before, a much better Parsifal. Countess Witzthum sat with us for 2
acts, Florence sitting with the Harrachs. Mr Dugdale and Mr Lindsay
dined with us. Hugo and I walked down together after the play and
had a little talk. [Cast list of Parsifal attached to page.]
