Friday 10. [10 August 1894] Shopped for myself and for Mother.
Read at 84 after lunch and went out shopping with Mother. At 5 Mrs
Ritchie came and soon after Bill. We all talked and then I took him out
walking at which my Mother looked stony. This made me cross, but B
was an angel. We sat in the Park while he smoked a pipe and we
both together did his racing accounts! Walked back to 84 and were
caught in a thunder shower. At 84 B read the Dolly Dialogues and we
talked and I was comforted. Ah well - he is a dear! He dined at 95
and we talked after dinner of philosophers and of Dumas. Then we
went upstairs and played the new letter game with Grandmamma and
the children. Papa was at Maidenhead.
