Tues Oct 22 [22 October 1919] The town is beautifully clean. The people hear many rumours from Aleppo [Halab] and fear coming under the {Arab Govt} French but would doubtless prefer an Arab Govt to ours. Saw 'Asad Beg of the Baqqarah and two others of the Baqqarah [space left blank] Also [space] of the 'Aqaidat. Found a letter from Fahad Bey and sent back an answer by his 'abd.
