Sun 13 [13 March 1898] Pouring and blowing resolved to go to
Yokohama. Rickshaws late, just missed our train. Sat in station
playing Up Jenkins till we found that the next train did not go to
Yokohama! Mr Adam and Mr Birmingham an awful person, arrived.
Back to the hotel and lunch. The P. [Pessimist] Mr Plummer and I
back to Yokohama, the others came at 5. Very cold, country covered
with snow. Dined with the Windelers, M [Maurice] was out. Chill, which
they cured by potations of brandy and hot bottles.
