Location

Thurs 27. [27 January 1898] The doctor (passenger) fished and caught some cat fish. Some sailors in the lighters caught red snappers. A shark swimming round, we tried to catch him unsuccessfully. Very hot, {we played} I read Arabic all the morning and slept all the afternoon. The days hang rather heavy. There is noone amusing to talk to and it's very hot hanging round these ports. The Pattinsons are nice but they pall and the Storms are rather tedious. There is a volcano here, Isalco, which flames and smokes day and night. We got off at night.
