Fri. 7. [7 September 1894] At last, at last the rain lifted a little and
though it was very cold we left by a 10.30 train from Innsbr¸ck and
went up the Brenner valley to Steinach then walked up a side valley to
Trins where we lunched on cheese, sausage, and omelette.
Charming valley, all the roads and paths were rivers after the rain,
globe flowers and scabious growing in the meadows and snow lying
quite low down on the mountains. When we came back we found the
Buffums gone so that only Miss Atkinson is here now. Home at 5.30.
The Patscherkofl [Patscherkofel] looks like a wise old man with snow
lying almost down to the Frantz Joseph Sch¸tzhaus.
