Tues Ap 4 [4 April 1911] Went after breakfast with Andrae to see the
Siegesallee - extraordinary number of stelae, one of them a queen,
Semiramis! Then we walked all round the delicious grassy hills to the
Gurgurri Gate and so home. After lunch sat with 'Abd ul Kadir Effendi
who is a Patchaji, and then went out into the temple diggings and
watched the diggings. After which I had tea on the roof with Jordan.
Abd ul Kadir Effendi and a Turkish officer from Baghdad came to
dinner and we talked all the evening of political appointments.
