Frid. Feb 3 [3 February 1911] Called with Seleim Beg on the new
deputy, Shukri Beg al 'Asali. He talked much of the rlys and of the
need of the Euphrates valley rail to Damascus [Dimashq (Esh Sham,
Damas)]. Not very favourable to the Committee but sees need of a
good opposition. Played bridge at Club before dinner.
