Lunched for half an hour and got into camp beyond Gayara Tell [Qayyarah] at 2.30. There are pitch streams near here - we crossed 2. My tent by the Tigris. Beautiful light over the hilly Assyrian landscape on the other side - bare hills and by the river tells with groups of tents near the. The rocky hills below Assur [Ashur] they call Assyrian Switzerland.
