Tuesday July 30 [30 July 1907] Mr Fitzmaurice came at 9 and we went to Ferid Pasha's - he was most agreeable. Talked of the irregation [sic] scheme and the Egerdir [Egridir] boats, of Fattuh, Nejd [Najd] and Ibn Sabah. I went back to the Embassy and Fitzmaurice told me the Aden [('Adan)] tale. Mr Graves came in. Fitzm lunched with me, we went to see Fattuh, I to the Museum and he to the Porte. He then picked me up and we came back and had Messerschmid to tea. Then to the Embassy garden and talked till 7. Wrote many letters after dinner.
