Friday 95 Sloane Street. Dearest Mother. I went to Mrs West's and she says that baths, lights, fires and washing are extras, but attendance is not. I enjoyed Mrs Walpole's party. I had a long talk with Mr Poynter who was most affable. Tell Papa he says Castelfranca, the Giorgione place, is quite quite lovely in itself, to say nothing of the picture. Mrs Green was there, Mr Duckworth (I introduced him to Lilian who was a little stranded) the Mallets, the Davys and several other people I knew. Mrs W. was very friendly and said she was very glad I had come without being invited. I may go to the Jeunes with the Stanleys tonight, but I'm not sure if I shall.
My domino is going to be so nice and it will cost me very little for it is all made of a beautiful piece of white stuff Papa gave me in Algiers [Alger]. Lizzie is making it. This afternoon I went to the L.L. and then to the Grafton Gallery where the French pictures are a real joy. Aunt Maisie came to tea.

Papa is a dear about the bicycle - I have not pursued my inquiries as yet, but anyway I would like him to accept all they give me for the article. The surplus shall be interest, tell him.

I wrote to Mr Coloni, but I begin to feel I shan't be able to put in B.M. with my other work and it's no good scamping the Arabic. Mr Strong has been singing my praise to Mrs Green! Your affectionate daughter Gertrude
