Baghdad Oct 29 Dearest Mother. As to Zaid - any party will suit him and the younger and more careless the better. But I don't want you to spoil a Christmas party by having him on your hands. If you could ask him up for two or three days at the end of it, that would be most kind. He shoots and rides and does everything a young man should. I hear that Iltyd Clayton has been deputed to settle him in at Oxford.
You give a delightful account of George Trevelyan's visit. I've written about my George to Molly who will no doubt show you the letter. What a place in your life the baby has taken! I don't know how you will ever bear to part with her. Ever, dearest, your very affectionate daughter Gertrude
