Papa does not seem to think that he will come to London before Thursday; I think I will therefore settle to come up on Tuesday if Grandmamma will have me. I suppose I had better come to 95 till Thursday? I will write to her this evening and ask if she will take me in. I am still rather vague for I don't like to bother Papa by asking him what are his plans definitely and I still hope that he may perhaps be able to go to the N.G. [Norman Grosvenors[?]]
The children rode on donkeys this afternoon, but it was not very successful for we refused the assistance of the donkey boy and consequently could not get the donkeys to move! We passed a ridiculous hour and finally left our beasts standing peacefully on the Esplanade and came home. I don't think, judging by their former activity, that their was any fear of their escaping.

I have written to Mrs Creighton saying that you are away and that I have forwarded her letter to you. Ever your very affectionate daughter Gertrude.
