Fri 9. [9 February 1900] Lunched with Miss Keightley and Miss
Chapman. Mr Macalister and Mr Dunn also there. Nice little house on
the top of the Hill of Evil Counsel. As we came away Dr R [Rosen]'s
horse (Nimr) fell over a wall, Dr R. having fortunately quickly sprung
off. Nimr came galloping past Nina and advanced to me open
mouthed. I fled down to the station where with the help of some
Fellaheen I captured him. Charlotte went home and we rode nearly to
Bethlehem [(Beit Lahm)], but Nimr fell lame and it was subsequently
discovered that he had cracked his hoof again. Lucky it was no
worse for them both. Dr R. very plucky and full of presence of mind.
