Sat. March 25 [25 March 1911] Worked all day at the big palace
which is far nearer to Ukheidir [Ukhaydir] than de Morgan shows. In
the morning Daoud Khan left and immense bodies of horsemen
streamed across the plain. F. [Fattuh] brought out my lunch and I kept
him to help with the measuring tape. The lower courts grass grown
and starred with white and purple anemones, very delightful. But an
awfully hard day's work. Muhammad brough me tea and stayed to
help with the measuring tape, but at 5.15 I cd go no more and rode
back to my tents wearied out. The Russian consul, a Persian from
Kermanshah [Bakhtaran], came to see me. A nice man. Also Kerim
Khan sent to salute me and ask how I was. At 5.45 AM Temp 46, Bar
28.7.
